This is called the &#8220;hope for the best&#8221; strategy.</strong> But did you know there are other more powerful strategies that feed your blog a ton of Social Marketing traffic? Read on to learn and discover these strategies next in this article.</p>
<p><strong>4 Twitter Blog Traffic Strategies</strong></p>
<p><strong>Strategy #1</strong> - Did you know that in a Word Press blog, you can set it up so that each time you create a new post, an announcement is sent out in your Twitter stream? It will look something like this:</p>
<p>&#8220;NEW BLOG POST - 3 Articles to Get You Started Strong in 2010&#8243; - and then the link to the blog post.</p>
<p><strong>This is great automatic re-purposing and brings in consistent traffic.</strong> If you do not use it you are leaving lots of traffic on the table.</p>
<p><strong>Strategy #2</strong> - Have regular features on your blog. For example, I regularly feature bundles of articles, &#8220;Saturday Morning Gifts&#8221; and &#8220;Sunday Morning Inspiration&#8221; blog posts. This teaches the people already on your lists, whether your email list or a Social Marketing list, to come back regularly and expect to see blog posts on certain days. This gives you regular and consistent traffic to you blog.</p>
<p><strong>In addition, with Strategy #1 above, each of these regular blog posts is &#8220;auto-tweeted&#8221; </strong>from your blog to your Twitter stream, inviting all your Twitter followers back to your blog.</p>
<p><strong>Strategy #3</strong> - If you write articles (you are writing articles, aren&#8217;t you?) then here is a great strategy to get more traffic to your blog, your articles and wherever else you would like to send traffic. Bundle 2-3 articles around the same topic into one blog post. Include the title of the article, link the title to the article, and include the article description. Now you invite your Twitter followers to check out your new blog post, both automatically (see Strategy #1 above) and by tweeting your own invitation.</p>
<p><strong>This is really a 3-in-1 strategy because you get Twitter traffic</strong> to you blog, your articles, and wherever else you want to send them from your articles</p>
<p><strong>Strategy #4</strong> - With all the focus on automation in these strategies, it would be easy to forget about the traffic value of &#8220;live tweets.&#8221; That&#8217;s a phrase I never thought I would use in public, &#8220;live tweets.&#8221;</p>

<p><strong>So let&#8217;s take a closer look at how to leverage Twitter </strong>to drive tons of traffic to your articles, whether your content is on your website, blog, or an Article Directory.</p>
<p><strong>7 Steps to a Ton of Traffic</strong></p>
<p><strong>Step 1</strong> - Tweet that you are working on a new piece of content. Include the working title and when you expect to have it done by. This builds the anticipation in your followers and puts a bit a pressure on you to get in done.</p>
<p><strong>Step 2</strong> - When you submit your article to a Directory, let your Twitter followers know your new content has been submitted. Include the title, and let them know when you think the article will be out by. This continues to build anticipation.</p>
<p><strong>Step 3</strong> - When you set up your account at EzineArticles correctly, your newly published articles are &#8220;auto-tweeted&#8221; to and announced on Twitter, including the title and the link. This is done automatically for you. If your article is coming out on another Directory, watch for it&#8217;s publication and then tweet that the article is out. Include the title and the link.</p>
<p><strong>Step 4</strong> - Along about this time a really cool and powerful thing begins to happen. Your followers on Twitter begin to Re-Tweet (RT) your article, and now you are reaching all of their followers as well. Thank those who RT your article and Re-Tweet their announcement too.</p>
<p><strong>Step 5</strong> - Follow up the automated announcement of your articles with announcements of your own. Just because your article was automatically announced does not mean every one saw it. Twitter is much too fluid for that. So follow up with announcements of your own. Ask &#8220;Have you seen this yet?&#8221; and include the article title and link.</p>
<p><strong>These first 5 steps drive traffic to the Article Directories </strong>that host your article. When you have written your article well and crafted your Resource Box well. this will quickly turn into traffic to your websites and blogs.</p>

<p>One of the best places to invite your Twitter followers is to an opt-in page where they can get more great information from you in exchange for their email address. In this article we&#8217;re going to take a closer look at how to invite your followers to your opt-in page.</p>
<p><strong>How to Do It Wrong</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><strong>The best way to guarantee that no one will visit your opt-in page from Twitter is to burst on the scene and begin hammering people to opt-in </strong>to something before you have established and built any kind of relationship at all. This is the fast road to being ignored and unfollowed on Twitter. </li>
<li><strong>Another way to do it wrong is to only extend an invitation every now and then.</strong> Twitter is a constantly moving environment and if you extend invitations only infrequently, many people will miss them and your message. </li>

<li><strong>Be very clear on the benefits</strong> the prospect will get when they opt-in. &#8220;Claim your instant access to 2 free article templates so you can create more articles in less time&#8221; beats the heck out of &#8220;Go here to join my list&#8221; every time. </li>
<li>Don&#8217;t be shy about extending the invitation. You are offering good stuff for free. Some my criticize you for it, but remember, on the Internet you need a &#8220;thick skin and open heart.&#8221;</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>How to Automate It</strong></p>
<p><strong>You can automate your opt-n page invitations by using a free automation service</strong> like HootSuite.com With HootSuite you can schedule your opt-in invitations in advance and have them go out while you are doing other things.</p>
<p><strong>And another great way to automate the process</strong> is to use a service like TweetAdderNow.com. While HootSuite allows you to schedule your invitations in advance, they will only run once. Tweet Adder Now allows you to schedule your invitations and set them up to run over and over on a schedule you create.</p>

<p><strong>Too Good To Be True</strong></p>
<p><strong>As always when things are too good to be true stuff happens. </strong>Link wheels used to be a great way to build up site rankings until recently. Google, Yahoo and Bing have now all figured this out and have started to discount any link wheel attempts. For this reason it is always a good idea to stick with traditional back linking strategies instead of get quick schemes. If you are not familiar with link wheels then good for you. </p>
<p><strong>You are not missing anything and might have saved your webmaster headache.</strong> Now link wheels are only one of the things that are promoted now a days that say you can boost immediate rankings results. Just imagine how many get rich quick scams there are. Same goes with the SEO world. Keep in mind that there is only one way to properly go about search engine optimization without ever getting in trouble.</p>
<p><strong>What is a Link Wheel?</strong></p>
<p><strong>Maybe I should explain this so you don&#8217;t accidentally do this.</strong> Basically in the web 2.0 you have multiple sites either submitting articles or blogs with links pointing to both your main domain and one other site. This other site would be another web 2.0 site that you have set up doing the same exact thing. This wheel of sites with two links on them can expand to many spokes of a wheel. I&#8217;ve seen some get up to 32 spokes long. </p>
<p><strong>The point here is that all the spokes are promoting not only your main domain but other sites</strong> that are also promoting your site effectively giving you a ton of link juice. Now there are variations of link wheels but they all basically do the same thing. Now there is nothing wrong with a few of these sites doing this but you might want to make sure and check to see if your wheel is completely in a circle as these are the easiest to find. Broken wheels are harder to find and spin off wheels are basically impossible to find yet still very powerful.</p>
<p><strong>Is It Worth The Risk/Money?</strong></p>
<p><strong>Again this is not much of a risk if done properly.</strong> Broken wheels with a ton of hubs will make it virtually impossible to track hence Google, Yahoo and Bing will not be able to validate this technique. The cost of effectively setting up a proper link wheel can be expensive yet yield great results. The result can make you site stay on the top search results for years without the need of really updating new and constant back links. </p>
<p><strong>I would never recommend to stop your back linking campaigns</strong> but if you are in a tough spot for cash this is one idea that you could implement for at least the next few months. Many companies offer link wheels but it is imperative that you select one that knows what they are doing so not to have your site black listed from the search engines. Beware of companies that brag about a few sites they might have done as they might only work temporarily until they get caught. </p>
<p><strong>Your best bet is to call and get a feel for the person you are dealing with. </strong>Make sure they are up to date with current SEO news and tactics. I&#8217;ve seen many hotels go with out sourcing companies in India only to get burned. I hope this information helps you to stay out of trouble.</p>

<p><strong>Facebook fan pages are an excellent way to promote your business on the Internet.</strong> This works extremely well, no matter if you work exclusively online, have a physical brick and mortar business, or do some combination of both. There are several things you need to know in order to get started, and then you will be on your way to marketing yourself and your business through one of the best methods now available, all at no cost to you.</p>
<p><strong>Make sure you have an account over at Facebook before you try to go any further. </strong>You must have a personal account set up, along with a profile, before you can go any further. This only takes about fifteen minutes from start to finish. Upload a picture of yourself and include a link to a website or blog. Any other information, such as your birthday or relationship status, is completely optional. I find that this information is best for communicating with people you already know, along with family members, rather than for marketing a business and reaching out to potential prospects and customers.</p>
<p><strong>Once you are all set up, look for an application called &#8216;ads and pages&#8217;. </strong>This application should automatically appear on your home page, but you may have to search for it. It is typically in the lower left side of your screen. Click on the icon and it will take you to the next screen. Ads refers to the advertising program available through Facebook. Do not do anything with this, as it is not related to what I am explaining about setting up your fan page.</p>
<p><strong>When you get to the pages section, choose to &#8216;create a new page&#8217;. </strong>You will have three choices of what type of page you wish to create. These are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Local</li>
<li>Brand, product, or organization</li>
<li>Artist, band, or public figure</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>With each of these are more choices.</strong> While you may be tempted to create a page under public figures as a comedian or a government official, resist the urge and choose one of the other two instead. Choose local if the business you will be promoting depends primarily on getting clients from a particular geographic region. This is excellent for small service businesses, such as plumbers and dentists. You can choose other business if your category is not shown. If you are promoting a product, choose the second category, the one called brand, product, or organization. This is also the choice if you are promoting a charity or non-profit group, such as your Rotary Club or church.</p>
<p><strong>Now it is time to name your page </strong>and then click on create page to save what you have done.</p>

<p><strong>As I&#8217;m scanning my business book library for some information I needed for an article, I ran across a book I hadn&#8217;t touched in a while:</strong> <em>Tested Advertising Methods</em> by John Caples (5th Edition revised by Fred E. Hahn). Looking through the pages, some intriguing ideas jumped out.</p>
<p><strong>But before we get into it, a little background on John Caples</strong> (1900-1990). He was an advertising industry legend for over 60 years who emphasized more &#8220;scientific&#8221; or tested methods of promotion and was a brilliant copywriter, primarily in the areas of direct response ads and direct mail. His incredible career began in the 1920s and his classic ad headline, &#8220;They Laughed When I Sat Down at the Piano. But When I Started to Play,&#8221; launched a new school of advertising that tapped into people&#8217;s real emotional needs.</p>
<p><strong>So what can we learn from a book that was last published in 1997</strong>, prior to the huge explosion of the Internet, and from an advertising genius who began his career almost 90 years ago? A whole lot, especially for maximizing your impact on Twitter.</p>
<p><strong>1. Headline is the Most Important Element </strong>- The success of any advertising depends heavily on the headline. If it doesn&#8217;t grab the reader, you don&#8217;t grab a sale. Since Twitter only allows 140 characters, if you&#8217;re planning to get people to click a link for more information on your product or service, or just get them to follow you, your post is your headline.</p>
<p><strong>2. A Successful Headline Must Have One of Three Appeals</strong> - Successful ads fall into three classes: 1) Self-interest of the reader; 2) News; and, 3) Curiosity. How many Twitter posts have you seen that fail these three tests?</p>
<p><strong>3. Use Telegraphic Language</strong> - Since you need to allow characters for a link, even a shortened one, it is all the more necessary to apply Caples&#8217; advice to &#8220;Use telegraphic language, as if you were sending a cable and you had to pay $5 a word.&#8221; He even goes so far as to suggest that your headline should be only a one to five word &#8220;stopper&#8221; headline, one that quickly stops them in their tracks with a strong appeal to their needs. Sounds like perfect advice for the 140-character world.</p>
<p><strong>4. Photos are Proof; Head Shots are Attention-Getting</strong> - How many times have you seen Twitter profiles for real people that are logos? Caples suggests that photos are proof and help make an ad believable. Use your photo in your profile! It will help increase your followers&#8217; trust by providing proof that you&#8217;re a real person. He also suggests that the photo of a person looking square at you will stop you quicker than photos of products or scenery. Scroll through your Twitter timeline. I think you&#8217;ll find this to be true.</p>
<p><strong>While some of the material in the book is dated, appealing to the emotional needs of humans never grows old. </strong>Read this advertising classic and see what it can mean for you in today&#8217;s online world.</p>
