Relate Your Website to an Ebay Auction Niche to Increase Free Website Traffic

Main Content No Comments »
Ebay Explained 2006 (KLCC)Image by liewcf via Flickr

I had created a for-fun-only Art IQ Test online (which, by the way, is the #1 Google search result for “art test,” as of 08/04/08), in which you click through various art masterpieces, thus answering a posed question about that piece of art, until you reach the end of the test & are given your results.

Once I had my page finished, I put Google AdSense links at the top of the final page of the site, & will soon include an eBay affiliate link pointing to, for instance, an available book, thus giving me two potential revenue streams on the same page.

My page complete, it was time to find a way to relate it to an eBay niche. I went to eBay.com & clicked “BUY” at the top right of the page, which led me to all the eBay categories (AKA “niches”). Then I clicked “ART,” then “PAINTINGS,” then “SELF-REPRESENTING ARTISTS (which is no longer available, but it makes no difference for this example).

That link gave me results for all the artists who listed their own art on eBay - jackpot! It was time to get busy by making a new page on which I would feature those artists I liked best.

My new page showed, for each artist, a thumbnail image of his/her work, an eBay affiliate text link to her auctions (thus giving me a third potential revenue stream on this project) & a link to her website.

The page done, I then emailed each artist I had included, informing them of my webpage with their artwork on it & the links to their auctions & websites. Then I gave them the option of placing on their main websites a link back to my Art IQ Test, thus completing this clever circle. As a further enticement to them, I told them that my first positive response offering to link back to me would get them the top link spot, though I kept the option of flipping the links around whenever I chose to in the future. (I try to remember to check their links now & then to be sure they are still in business, because it’s never a good idea to have a bunch of dead links on one’s page.) I expanded this idea by making a further page devoted to sculptors. The possibilities for expansion are endless.

So, what is your website about? Just browse those hundreds of eBay category niches & come up with a way to relate that niche to your website. If you have trouble doing that, just turn the idea around & make a new website to which you can relate an eBay niche. You are limited only by your imagination.

Bing SEO Tips Explained

Main Content No Comments »
Bing Visual SearchImage via Wikipedia

Microsoft’s new Bing search engine will change the way we all have to approach SEO. With the introduction of Bing, gone are those days when you have to submit your site to search engines or get links from various sources just to be indexed on the search engines.

With the release of Bing, the first thing that online marketers want to inquire is to how to get their websites on the top of the results page of the search engine. Here are some SEO tips for Bing, which will help marketers to get noticed on Bing.

To make it to the top of Bing, make sure to have a title that correlates to the subject at hand. You must also link out. Many marketers do not favor linking out because they fear that their page rank will be lowered, especially with Google.

Try to add more and more text. In most search engines, the amount of text on the page usually is not usually a huge factor. However, Bing really likes pages with at least 350 words of text.

Bing appears to put a lot of stock into how long ago a domain was registered. For marketers, this means that you may look to purchase older domains if you want to get on good position in Bing.

Try using only the well-formed HTML codes in your web pages. You should always ensure to close all the paired tags and should see that all links open the correct webpage. For information on validating your HTML code, you can see either HTTP Conditional Get test tool or HTTP Compression or W3C Markup Validation Service. If your website contains broken link then MSNBot might not be able to index your website effectively, thereby preventing people from reaching all of your web pages. To find more information on finding broken links on your website you can see the Help topic for the Webmaster Center’s Crawl Issues tool.

If you have moved a web page then you must set up the webpage’s original URL to redirect people to the new webpage. Also, indicate whether the move is permanent or temporary.

You have to make sure MSNBot is allowed to crawl your website and is not on your list of web crawlers that are prohibited from indexing your website. For more information on this, you can see Control which web pages on your website are indexed.

You should use a Robots.txt file or tags to control how MSNBot and other web crawlers index your website. You can use the Robots.txt file to prevent web crawlers from crawling specific files and folders.

Keep all your URLs static and simple. URLs that are complicated or that change frequently are difficult to index as link destinations. In addition, a URL that does not change is easy for people to remember and bookmark. That makes your webpage a more likely link destination from other websites.

You should watch for malicious software. Watch out for the links to web pages on your website that lead to malware on third-party websites or contains malicious content, such as a maliciously corrupted document or image file, or a harmful JavaScript or ActiveX control, will be disabled and highlighted as Malware in Bing results web pages.

In the end, it is very important to get more links to your site in terms of quantity as well as quality and to make sure that your website’s content matches that with your keywords.

Is Video Marketing Really Starting A Revolution?

Main Content No Comments »
YouTubeImage via Wikipedia

Video marketing is easily the most powerful form of marketing online today as long as the video is put together properly and the right streaming techniques are used. Right now, online video marketing is in the exact spot that e-commerce was back in 1998. Needless to say, video marketing is here to stay, and like it or not, consumers have been conditioned to expect it.

Viral video marketing, as opposed to just plan video marketing, is often chosen as a way to promote a site because it is quite easy to accomplish. Usually these people are Internet Marketers like me who have done the research and understand how valuable viral video marketing is. Another benefit to this type of Video Marketing is that it can be utilized in a similar way to article marketing in that you can create content which can then be used for free on people’s websites, blogs and ezines. Viral video marketing is an essential part of your marketing mix.

One of the most increasingly popular ways to enter viral video marketing is to establish a blog on a website and continuously add images, words, and videos. If you add videos then you have transformed your blog into a video blog marketing machine. Video Blog Marketing is a new trend on the Internet whose time has come. The best time to learn about Video Blog Marketing is now, while the technology and skills are easy to learn.

You can send video blog messages directly to your target market and bypass the most vigilant email filters. New video blog methods and techniques are developing at warp speed everyday. Few people know how to use video blog marketing to sell products or services. Fortunately, learning video blog marketing is far from difficult and can quickly level the playing field if you’re a small player.

Not only is video blog marketing easy to learn, its also such a new technology that you can quickly turn yourself into an expert (ahead of the coming crowd). The door is now WIDE OPEN for people to download video blogs (called vblogs or vlogs for short) and watch them on their PSP’s, cell phones, PDA’s, laptops and especially their video IPODS.

You can even use many of the videos on YouTube and Google as content for your own site for free. Both Google Video and YouTube will provide you with the codes to embed the videos into your website or blog as well as myspace, etc. You may also want to look into Video Streaming Toolkit, which offers an all in one solution to stream videos on any web site with no additional monthly fees. Internet videos are so popular right now that even amateur videos are making headlines on websites across the Internet.

That’s yet another thing that makes video marketing so incredible; you can be a complete amateur and produce viral video. This means that video marketing is very cheap, powerful, and accessible to just about anyone with an internet connection. I should point out, though, that in marketing situations the load time, clarity and brevity are much more important than for standard streaming videos. You may therefore want to look into getting a copy of camtasia or some other kind of video editing software.

Using videos will increase brand recognition, create buzz and help you promote and sell your products or services more effectively. Video marketing is revolutionizing the way that companies can reach their audiences as it continues to become an increasingly popular medium amongst consumers. Utilizing online video marketing is a key business strategy for all internet marketers. The persuasion power of video marketing is far more powerful than any of other comparative advertising mediums.

In terms of website promotion, video marketing is a splendid way to attract the visitor, make him stay longer, and to build a strong emotional tie between the visitor and the web site. Having recently launched a property video portal, I can definitely confirm that internet video marketing is the way to go. Simply put, video marketing, especially viral video marketing, is one of the most effective solutions to promote your product or service that has ever hit the Internet.

How Does Facebook Figure Into Your Online Advertising Campaign?

Main Content No Comments »
Facebook profile circa 2007.Image via Wikipedia

Facebook. All the cool kids are doing it. Are you?

For advertisers, it’s a hard market to pass up. So many people in one place at one time. Marketers see something like this and it’s as if their dreams have come true. It’s got that glowing, shiny exterior that seems to say: come to us. We have numbers.

Numbers are important in a marketing campaign. You can’t manage what you can’t measure. However, in the Facebook world some of those numbers have gotten them in trouble. The reason being that in recent times Facebook introduced a new advertising platform. A platform that gathered numbers that not everyone was comfortable parting with.

Numbers and demographics. Demographics tell advertisers who and where their potential customers are. When millions upon millions of users register their personal information on a social site, all of the sudden demographic research becomes far easier than it has ever been before.

But fail to notify your users or give them an opportunity to completely opt out of the platform, and there will be a huge backlash of opinion. In the space of a month the site can go from “have you tried that out yet” to “remember when everyone liked it?”.

Online advertising propels online development. We all understand this, and, to a point, we all we’ve come to accept this. So much so that we barely even notice it anymore.

Here’s a quick thought experiment. Did you check your email this morning? Do you check it everyday? It’s a fairly common practice. Were you aware that there were advertisements all around your message? We all know they’re there. Flashing, pretty colors or creative titles in bold text. They’re always nearby… just in the periphery of our vision.

Now, do you remember a single one? Do you even remember what they were selling?

My guess is that you probably don’t.

Online advertising is the epitome of the in-the-moment selling. If the pretty colors or particular text catch your eye then and there, you might just click on it. But that means the truth is there’s as much reliance on pure impulse as there is on demographics.

Facebook is the latest in a line of platforms that are trying to deliver the opportunity to receive targeted advertising. Isn’t that nice of them? We’re going to use your personal information to deliver targeted advertising, because we have to advertise, so it might as well be for things you’ve given us hints that you actually like. Oh, and we might sell your information to others, so they can share in this opportunity.

But at least we’ve been given the opportunity to receive ads we want to see.

Wait. Ads we want to see?

Personal information being used to determine out likes and dislikes?

Let’s face it. No one wants advertisements. And rolling out an advertising platform and touting it as something beneficial to a user base isn’t fooling anyone. And in the wake of the backlash from this platform, Facebook has changed some of its policies and made it easier to opt in or out of the program.

So what about regular online advertising in social mediums like this? Is it effective? Do the demographics reduce the dependence on impulse? Or are the users of social sites so intent on the content that advertising doesn’t even register with them?

Studies have shown that the tendencies of the common user lean toward that last option. Click rates per page views on Facebook (and other social sites) are extremely low.

It seems people are too busy with socializing to even give into impulse clicks.

Does that mean you don’t need to consider social media in your online advertising campaign?

Not at all. While there are arguments flying around about the staying power of Web 2.0 applications and whether we’re on the verge of another bubble bursting, that is irrelevant to the current discussion.

In the here and now community works. Advertisements may not, but advertising isn’t your only option on these networks.

Community works because users feel like you have their interests in mind, rather than just your own. Community is about communication, and that might be the best advertising you could hope for.

10 Most Powerful Article Marketing Tips

Main Content No Comments »
Great Article Marketing | Article StormImage by lawtonchiles via Flickr

Great Houdini — this really works!

Never would have believed how writing some simple little articles would put my website marketing into overdrive until I tried it. These techniques worked for me, can’t imagine what they will do for someone who can actually write!

If you haven’t tried it, give it a go and see exactly what article writing can do for your marketing efforts; you may be pleasantly surprised.

Here are 10 powerful article marketing tips you should apply to all the articles you write. These ideas will help you discover the real power behind article marketing.

1. Information, Information, Information Don’t ever forget, the major reason anyone is reading your article is for the information. Make sure your articles have at least some! The more timely, the better.

2. Keep It Short And Simple Writing for the web and ezines is different than writing for off-line publications. Keep your writing brief and write in short paragraphs. Be concise. Be precise. Talk directly to your reader and trim any unnecessary fat. Be lean and meaningful.

3. Put Your Reader’s Major Benefit In The Title Always put your readers first, give them the main reason they should read your article in big bold letters at the top of the page, i.e. in the title.

4. Take Full Advantage Of Article Directories Kick-start your articles by submitting them to popular online article directories. These already have a large clientele looking for your articles.

Here’s my killer five:

5. Use Autoresponders For Your Articles Set up all your articles on autoresponders. Have a Master Autoresponder — listing all your articles. Automate your genius.

6. Post Articles On Your Site Place all your articles on your site. This builds trust and creditability. Not to mention all that ‘keyword drawn’ traffic from the search engines.

7. Use RSS Feeds To Syndicate Your Articles Place your articles in RSS Feeds and syndicate them to all interested parties. RSS is Hot! Google Blog Search. Microsoft’s RSS Powered Longhorn. XML Sitemaps…

8. Use Affiliates If You Have Them Let your affiliates brand your articles with their affiliate IDs and promote your articles for you. Win-win situation. Harness and harvest your affiliates’ energy.

9. Cross Reference Your Articles Get more bang for your links. Place links to your other articles in the article you’re writing. If you’re offering helpful advice, most ezine editors and webmasters will let you do this. Self-promote. Self-pollinate.

10. Place Your Articles In An eBook Place your most popular articles in an ebook that can be branded and passed around. A great viral technique that works. Your greatest hits for all the world to enjoy, again and again.

Happy writing — go get ‘em!

How to Use Twitter to Grow Your Online Business

Main Content No Comments »
My Twitter profile on Tweetie 2Image by dougbelshaw via Flickr

Today it seems like so many newscasts (radio or TV) encourage their viewers or listeners to communicate with them through Twitter. The visibility for Twitter has grown worldwide. At the end of 2008, it was estimated by Forester Research that approximately 5 million users were on Twitter. Some estimate that number has grown by another million in just the last 3 months. You may be surprised to know that Barack Obama tweets.

In fact, at the end of last year, Israel’s ministry of foreign affairs conducted a worldwide press conference via Twitter where they took questions from the public about the war against Hamas in Gaza. Because twitter is so spontaneous, it provides users with a means to find out about the latest industry news in a particular niche or activity within minutes of the actual event/occurrence. The purpose of this article is to discuss this new social marketing phenomenon and how it can be used to promote your online and offline businesses.

Twitter is a “microblogging” service that continues to grow in popularity. Twitter posts, known as “tweets” can only be a maximum of 140 characters. Updates or Tweets are shown on the user’s profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive these tweets. Getting subscribers or followers on Twitter is a goal of many who use the service. People who subscribe to your tweets, will get your whole tweet at once, instead of having to go to your website. Companies like Apple, Intel, Cisco and even the White House are all on Twitter.

In theory, if you gain more followers on Twitter, then you should be able to drive more visitors to your website and generate exposure for your businesses. This is because, if done right, Twitter can be a mechanism to send information to these potential customers and marketing your website. However, Twitter involves engaging other users. If you want to gain and keep a large percentage of your followers, don’t use spam tactics.

One such tactic is to simply “blast” anyone and everyone on twitter with a notification that you are following them. Many people will simply follow those that send them notification that they are being followed. However, these people that “blindly” follow others, usually don’t actively engage many people. Following are some proven tips on how to grow your network on Twitter and how to use this service to gain exposure for your online business.

First you need to consider Why would people want to follow me? What can I provide them with that’s of value? Considering that there’s literally millions of twitter users, you need to determine what sets me apart from them? Market your strengths.

1) Build your profile

If you read through numerous expert blogs on Twitter and how to grow your network, they all start with the same/strong recommendation to provide a strong profile. Consider your profile as a breathing organism that should be continually built up. Treat your profile like your website or blog’s about me page. Try to update your account with content that appears like it’s written by a human. This means, include interesting comments/observations.

You’ll need more than a sentence or two that describes who you are and what you do. Unless you’re a celebrity, you’ll need a detailed and clear profile. In one of the steps below, outside promotion is discussed. Directing traffic to your profile page is an excellent way to gain followers. In fact, this strategy of continually building up your profile and regularly driving visitors to this page on Twitter is one of the most effective means to gain followers.

Since you’re directing people to your Twitter profile, you should ensure your Twitter account’s background, avatar and overall design are consistent with your website. Although directing traffic to your profile page is a subject for another article, a few ways include: a) using Twitter as a customer service or support tool, b) include links to your profile page on your forum, blog and other social media posts.

A great way to attract people who may be interested in the content on your website, is to use the same keywords in your profile that you do on your website. A few examples include:

“I am interested in fitness and working out. I share weight loss tips on my website ” or “I’m a professional guitar player who loves to teach music, check out 5 tips to playing guitar on my website” or “I’m a successful financial adviser who can help you reduce your debt, sign up for my free newsletter when you visit my website.” These are all nice short bios that tell visitors about yourself. Note that we give them a reason to visit our website. It’s also a good idea to include some useful tips on your profile. This way potential followers will more strongly consider you. Always include a hyperlink to your website (include the “http” to ensure that it’s clickable)

2) Sync your website with your twitter account

This ensures new posts or articles appear as updates in your twitter account. If you’re driving traffic to your twitter account, people will see your numerous posts. This helps generate long term traffic, provided your content is of interest to your visitors. Use a twitter tool called TwitterFeed, to automatically post your latest blog posts titles.

3) Post questions as tweets

Examples of questions can be seeking information or recommendations. The result may be that your network could direct you to other twitter users with whom you may converse and ultimately gain as followers. Also consider questions where you’re seeking feedback on your website(s) or seeking a course of action for a given scenario. Your goal with questions is to generate a conversation and engages your Twitter followers with the responses from your followers.

4) Manually “pick” your followers.

A great way, but admittedly a bit time consuming, is to search Twitter using keywords of interest. You can simply type in any words or phrases and attempt to connect with others who share that particular interest. You will have to sift through the search results and look at various profiles along with their related Tweets. Next you can add people you think you can engage in conversation. This can be a very effective way to connect with people that would be interested in your website. This brings us back to point 1), develop a solid profile. If you build a profile with strategically placed keywords, people who are searching twitter, may land on your profile and follow you.

5) Retweet often (but not too much)

You want to optimize your exposure on twitter. In addition to the above tactics, you want to re-Tweet (sometimes called @ reply). The reason why you gain followers when people re-tweet you is that your username is exposed to people who haven’t heard of you. When you do this choose the right keywords or phrases. Other Twitter users enjoy engaging and thought provoking conversations. If you tweet and re-tweet with your followers, others notice. Your keyword rich (but not overdone) tweets can get picked up in twitter searches.

6) Understand How Twitter Works

Twitter should not be another marketing tool to be over manipulated. Although some will try, Twitter should be considered as a social marketing tool useful to those who are a part of the community. Don’t spam and don’t over-actively promote yourself.

Your goal should be to build a network within the community by replying to other tweets (retweeting), sharing observations, news and even direct your followers to a blog post, filled with useful information, and only then use that post to get followers to take action. Trying to take people out of Twitter right away and into a sales pitch will get you labeled as a scammer.

7) Review your followers and revise your strategy if necessary

If you’re using twitter to grow your online business, it’s a good idea to track the number of your followers. If you are losing many more followers than you’re gaining, review the content of your tweets to ensure it isn’t offending or “turning away” your followers. Consider having an unbiased third party take a look at your tweets to provide you with feedback.

8) Other ways to gain a twitter audience

To build your network above and beyond your initial contact list, you’ll need to look both inside and outside Twitter.

Outside of Twitter, placing a link to “Follow me on Twitter” in your email or forum signature, website, blog posts, and any other way that you communicate with people (where appropriate, of course)

Inside of Twitter, it’s all about following people. You can find other users that you admire, and see who is following them; you can also see who is following your friends. In order to do this use Twitter directories to find members who have similar likes. You can do this by using the search feature to find profiles of people you want to follow - and follow all of them. In most cases, they will, in turn, follow you.

There are more great strategies to grow your online business with Twitter. In addition to Twitter, you can easily grow your business with numerous other Social Networking sites. One way to find out about these strategies and more is through a Portal Feeder membership which includes training and the most powerful set of tools, resources and support to get you started making money online in 30 days.

To Twitter Or Not to Twitter - Should I? How Do I Get Started on Twitter?

Main Content No Comments »
Twitter StreamsImage by premasagar via Flickr

Recently I have been asked by a lot of friends, customers and colleagues if I Twitter .

Yep!!! I do.

At first I was slow to start and it took me a while to figure out what the big deal was, but every day I am finding new reasons to Twitter. In fact it has become my most productive social media form.

Need some money?

Twitter about a new product you like. (Make sure you’re an affiliate first.)

Want to grow a list?

Make lots of Tweets that have value and invoke interest. This is important , do not market constantly on Twitter . That list will wither up and die. You need to listen to Tweets and respond to them. Become friends with those who touch you in some way, because beautiful relationships can be formed this way. When people know and trust you, they will follow you and do what you do. Treat your Peeps like they are your family, with love and respect.

I want to share the way I Twitter with my readers, so here is my step-by-step method and checklist to quickly help you be successful on twitter. Whether you are new to Twitter , or you’ve been around awhile, this stuff is important.

What is twitter?

Twitter can be a fun way to keep in touch with your family and friends or to find new friends and business associates. So twitter is kind of like a personal blog, only with shorter and more frequent posts. It’s a “microblog,” a social communication tool you can access and use on the web. It can also integrate with text messages on your favorite mobile phone.

When I see someone new following me, I want to know more about them, so I check out their Twitter profile, I read their bio, and check out their website. Sometimes I get a follower that is new to twitter and who doesn’t know how to set up their profile information, and that’s the reason for this article. Some of these people are following lots of other folks, but not many follow them back.

One problem is that Twitter’s instructions for setting up a new account is missing something important, setting up your profile information. This needs to be done before following anyone, before you make your first Tweet. Your profile needs to include your photo, bio and your website.

I usually advise people to use their real name and photo. (I’ve been using Carolz_place a long time, so decided to keep it, as lots of people know me on Social Sites that way.) To make your name more readable, capitalize your username, as in CarolHansen. (If you already have a twitter account, you can fix the capitalization in your account settings. As long as you only change the capitalization and don’t add or delete characters, you won’t hurt anything.) If your twitter ID is your company name or product name, you might even want to use that.

Here is the checklist you need to follow.

Even if you have a Twitter account, double check each step to make sure you’ve done it completely, as they are all important.

Step 1. Create an account at Twitter using these guidelines.

* On the signup page, capitalize your first and last name, as in CarolHansen.

* Skip the next invitation page, which is… are your friends on Twitter? You can do this later in step 4.

* Skip the next page, the home page. You can update your status in step 3.

Step 2. Set up your information for people to see.

* Click on the Settings link at the top of your twitter page.

* Fix the first text field (Name) so it is First name, space, Last name (with capitals).

* Set your time zone, your URL, your bio, and location. (Make sure your bio is interesting and attracts lots of attention.)

* Click on the Devices tab if you want updates to come to your mobile phone. Enter your phone number. (You can do this later if you want.)

* Click on the Picture tab, and upload your photo. (If you have one saved on your computer, click browse to find it.)

* Click on the Design tab, and select a theme you like. (You can change this anytime, and we might learn how to do that in another post.)

Step 3.Create your first status update.

* Click on the Home link at the top of the twitter page. It asks, “What are you doing? “

* Update your status so your future followers will know you are real. You can type anything; perhaps “Just signed up for twitter. I’m setting up my account.”

* Enter one or more updates.

Step 4. Find your friends and new people to follow.

* Click on the Find People link at the top of the Twitter page.

* Then click on each of the tabs to find your friends and family by their name or email address, your address book, etc.

* Another tool for finding people you know or want to follow is at Search.Twitter.com. Try typing their name or nickname, their website, or something you know them by.

* Now go looking for other interesting people. Read their profiles and check out their website before deciding to follow them. Then click follow, and send them a tweet that lets them know who you are or why you’re following them. Look for some who are “gurus” in the area you’re interested in. You’ll learn a lot from them.

Step 5. Start engaging followers in meaningful conversation.

* Ask for advice. Ask questions. Ask how and what they’re doing.

* Offer tips and advice when you see someone asking for it.

* Be open in your conversation. Go with the flow. Don’t agree with everyone, dare to be different, be a leader.

* Talk with people, not at them.

OK, now your Twitter profile should be up and running and people will be able to get to know you quickly. Have fun with Twitter! And don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, cause I’ll follow you back. Please let me know if this information helped you by leaving a comment. Be sure to include your Twitter @UserName. Thanks for stopping by. eBay Classified Ads - Ten Things You May Not Know About Them

Main Content No Comments »
Image representing eBay as depicted in CrunchBaseImage via CrunchBase

eBay Classified Ads are a remarkable selling tool, they also help grow a mailing list much faster than any other method I know, yet still they are little understood and very much under-utilised by eBayers. Here are ten more things you need to know about eBay Classified Ads. in order to grow your income and mailing list on eBay:

* eBay classified ads frequently promote products not already available or not otherwise allowed to be sold on eBay. A good example is digital downloads, such as eBooks and software applications which are banned from traditional eBay listings, with the exception of classified ads. on eBay.com.

* Although classified ads. feature on .com and .co.uk sites, overwhelmingly it’s the USA site you should use to generate a mailing list for affiliate products or to promote your own eBooks and downloadable packages.

This is because, as well as digital items in general, affiliate promotions are also banned from sale on eBay.com and .co.uk, again in all but the classified ad. sections of eBay.com.

Additionally, given that the vast majority of affiliate products are priced in dollars anyway, and geared largely towards the American market, classified ads. promoted on eBay.com will be seen by millions of people in the USA as well as reaching a massive audience outside America.

* Although not all eBay categories can be used for classified advertising, the profit potential is so huge that it could be worth placing classified advertisements in categories you might not otherwise consider using, either to sell off-the page or grow a list for future promotions.

* eBay classified ads respond to searches made by eBay members, giving you 100% targeted traffic to your promotions, meaning virtually everyone searching on eBay is a potential buyer - but only if they key words into eBay search engines that resemble words used in your classified ad., primarily the title.

So you must create a keyword rich title for your classified ad. featuring words most often used to find products such as you are selling. One of the best places to locate these words is on eBay Pulse Pages where current top frequency search terms are listed left of the page. You’ll find them at: pulse.ebay.co.uk or pulse.ebay.com.

* Study most popular searches for Information Products listed within the ‘Everything Else’ category and consider using these words in titles for eBay classified ads. promoting information products or free reports to grow your mailing list for subsequent information based products. This guarantees your ads. are returned in listings for similar words being searched on eBay. Also, by checking which popular search words feature regularly on eBay Pulse Pages you’ll be able to create titles that achieve maximum possible viewing potential.

For example, imagine the word ‘recipe’ features almost daily in eBay’s Popular Searches, and ‘recipe’ features in the title of your classified ad. Being an almost daily hot keyword, your classified ad will show up in eBay listings, also daily, whenever someone keys ‘recipe’ into eBay’s search engines.

* Using classified ads you are not effectively selling on eBay so feedback does not apply. This is a major benefit for people selling products renowned for generating undeserved negative or neutral feedback, such as business opportunities, diet and exercise products, gambling plans and adult products, where buyer expectations sometimes exceed product capability. A good example is a book that shows exactly how to make money fast on eBay, that’s an entirely and easily achievable objective, but if the buyer lacks commitment or does not read the instructions properly he ends up losing money. He’s to blame but you’ll get the negative, unless you use classified ads.

Another example is a diet plan buyer who expects to shed weight faster than is humanly possible and blames the seller if it doesn’t happen. The gambling book buyer might expect to win every bet from now to forever and will be quickly disappointed with his purchase and you’ll get the blame.

* eBay classified ads. cost very little compared to their enormous profit potential. An eBay classified advertisement can solicit sales of million dollar yachts and houses or might grow an immense mailing list for high price repeat sale consumer goods. Whatever the product, one-off or repeat selling potential, ongoing profits can be many thousand times more than the tiny price paid for eBay classified ads.

* eBay classified ads. offer wider market coverage at much lower cost than typically advertising in offline media. For example, the smallest classified advertisement in a national daily newspaper can cost thousands of dollars for just one day. When the newspaper is discarded, usually the same day, your eBay classified ad. costing just a few dollars is still up and running and attracting visitors several weeks later.

* Any mistakes made in offline classifieds can take weeks to amend and cause enormous loss for your business. Make a mistake in an eBay classified ad. and you can change it any time of day or night, literally within minutes, without help of any kind.

* Because eBay classified ads promote off eBay sales, there are no final selling fees to eat heavily into your profits, even from high price products such as rare antiques and collectibles.

There you have just ten reasons why you should use eBay Classified Ads. There are many other benefits which you’ll realise once you begin using them yourself.

Video Marketing Tips

Main Content No Comments »
YouTubeImage via Wikipedia

Video communication is an efficient means of reaching prospective customers, of promoting the presentation of your products or services. The use of videos on the Internet brings numerous advantages. It is a great solution with great impact on the visitor. It combines the advantages of “classic” TV advertising with the Internet’s most important characteristic, interactivity.

The ad becomes thus more attractive to the Web surfer, who becomes more receptive to what you have to offer. Online marketing is therefore more cost effective than regular TV ads, simply because, on the one hand, it’s less expensive to produce and disseminate, and on the other hand, it makes customer targeting a lot easier too.

A Definition

If we were to define the online video marketing concept, it would be as a marketing strategy used by companies in order to promote products and services, by making use of short, catchy, informative videos, with the purpose of inducing awareness to the prospective customers about the promoted products/services and enticing them into purchasing the above-mentioned products/services.

Characteristics of Online Video Marketing

It is common knowledge that nowadays people enjoy more to watch a screen (be it a TV’s or a PC’s) than reading. Information is delivered at a higher rate via images than through text.

The main advantage that Internet marketing videos have over the traditional, text format approach is that videos can get to the point much faster and waste less of the precious time of prospective customers. Instead of having the Web users go over some pages of text, trying to figure out the message that you’re actually trying to convey, you can deliver the same message in a small percentage of that time in a more attractive and inciting manner.

When to Use Video

Marketing videos can be used when a company decides to promote, a bit more aggressively (in the good way), one or more of its products/services. They can help reach the prospects better, on a well-trodden path, that of visual advertising, laid before them by television. Given that more and more people nowadays turn to Internet in search of information, served hot and fast, Internet marketing videos come naturally to supplement the Web user’s need for new, for useful, for sensational.

Advantages of Video Advertising

If you decide to use video in your marketing campaigns, it’s a very good option. It is catchier than other types of advertising. It captures the Web user’s attention easier and transports your message to prospects much faster than simple text.

A video ad can contain a demonstration of a product’s use and usability. Add to that a human face and a very pleasant voice (or even a well harmonized combination of a woman’s voice with a man’s), and you can have your prospects wrapper around your finger. By using these techniques, the prospective customer can relate more to your company and to what you’re promoting.

A Few Tips

It is important not just to take the video you made and put it in a video directory and just sit back and wait for it to bring you loads of prospects. The road to a nice result is similar to the regular Search Engine Optimization way. Bear in mind that videos are a gourmet dish for search engines, so it’s best that you take some time and prepare it accordingly. Use the right ingredients, so to speak.

Today’s technology offers you many opportunities to track traffic and analyze results. Take your time and make an effort (which will be rewarded in the end) to measure the impact that your videos have had on the prospects and to measure their performance. Search for tools that can tell you how much of your video was played before the visitor closed it, how many prospects actually decided to pay your site a visit after watching your video add on a different website, how many of these visits converted into sales, and so on.

Just because you have invested some time and effort in one or several videos, it doesn’t mean that you should leave out content. It’s still an important part of your business. Offer your visitors enough information on the site. Remember that marketing videos are meant to promote your business, to inspire Web surfers to visit your site and, luckily, convert into sales.

Many experts advise to use the videos on the first page. It’s like handing out your business card. The first page recommends you, and we all know that first impression counts. Don’t tuck your marketing video away, on some page that a visitor might not even get to. Make it visible. Anyway, give your site visitors the opportunity to skip your video. Maybe they’re not in the mood for watching it, and the last thing you want is an annoyed visitor.

Article Writing - The 5 Essential Parts of an Article

Main Content No Comments »
Version 6 homepage.Image via Wikipedia

If you have not yet been exposed to the art of article writing for traffic, then you have been missing out. Article marketing is one of the hottest techniques for traffic building currently, and can inexpensively and quickly draw people to your home page. How does it work? Simple.

You just write a few articles on topics that you have experience with, and distribute them online. In exchange for the article, you get a brief biography and a link back to your site, which draws traffic to you. So what are the essential parts of an article? Check these five out:

1. The Intro. The introduction to your article should be snappy, and catch the attention of your reader. It should include a short description of what you will be talking about in the main body of the article.

2. Main Idea. In the first paragraph or so of your article, you should set up your main idea or argument. You should give background information, and demonstrate your “expertise” in the field.

3. The Catch. In the next paragraph you should either approach the other side of the argument (if you are making a point) or add information that might be not as well known if your article is strictly informative. This “catch” allows the reader say to themselves, “aha!” and makes your article significantly more interesting.

4. The Application. In this part of an article, you should focus on either giving a few applications of the information you have provided previously, or, if your article is a persuasive one, show distinctive evidence for how your argument works in the real world. Either way, this should be practical.

5. Summary. The conclusion of your article should be a short but succinct summary of the points you have made previously, with perhaps an extension to a larger, wider context if necessary.

Article Writing - How to Choose an Article Title That is Effective

Main Content No Comments »
A Keeshond-Sibirian Husky puppyImage via Wikipedia

Once you have determined the subject of your article, you can write the title to the article. Now one thing is really important when determining the title of your article. The title of your article must be exactly related to what the article is going to address. If is it is not directly related to the subject matter of the article, then people who click into the article to read about the title’s subject, and find that you have written about something else, will click out of your article and you will lose trust with them.

One thing that is incredibly important online is that you must be extremely credible in everything that you do. It is hard enough for someone to trust you online, when they cannot see you or visit you in person; if you do deceptive things like create flashy titles just to get people to open your article, but they are not accurate to the nature of the article, you will lose people’s trust and they will not buy from you.

Although I do not spend a lot of time trying to optimize things for the search engines, when I do have an easy opportunity to do it, I often will. So when you write your article title, try to put the main keyword phrase for which you want your article to be ranked, in the first few words.

Then, you can write a statement that answers the question or problem you are going to solve in your article.

For example, this might be a good title:

Puppy Dogs – How to Choose the Right Puppy Dog For Your Pet

Or:

Dog Training – How to Teach Your Dog New Tricks

Of course, once you have written your article title, it is important that you stick to the topic of your title as you write the article.

Article Marketing 101: The Perfect Author Resource Box

Main Content No Comments »
A typical search engine results pageImage via Wikipedia

If you want to really make your article “SELL” then you’ve got to craft the perfect RESOURCE BOX. This is the “author bio” that is below your article body and it’s also known as your “SIG” (short for SIGnature).

Here are the essential items that should be in your RESOURCE BOX:

  • Your Name: You’d be amazed at how many folks forget to include their name in the RESOURCE BOX. Your name and optional title should be the first thing in your resource box.
  • Your Website Address: in valid URL form. Example: http://Your-Company-Name.com/
  • Your Elevator Pitch: This is 1 to 3 sentences that encapsulates the essence of what makes you and your offering unique. Also known as your USP (Unique Selling Proposition).
  • Your Call To Action: You’ve got them warmed up and now it’s time to lead them to BUY from you or visit your website. This is where you “Ask For The Sale.” Best to only give (1) specific call to action.

Here are some optional items you could include in your RESOURCE BOX:

  • Your Ezine Subscription Address: While getting your interested visitor to surf your website is nice, capturing their email address can help you begin the confidence/trust process. If you’re going to do this strategy, include a URL for your ezine subscription address and do not use an email address for the “join” address.
  • Your Contact Information: Such as your business phone number or how to reach you for interviews or your press/media kit. Keep in mind that article marketing is a timeless strategy and you may not have an easy ability to retract what you put in your article once it hits major distribution.
  • A Free Report: This could also be part of your call to action or your free bonus report that further enhances your credibility as the expert on the topic of your article.
  • Your email autoresponder: I’m not a big fan of this strategy due to the fact that spammers will text-extract your autoresponder address and add it to their spam list. Perhaps this strategy was best for the 1990’s and has now run its course.
  • An anchor URL that is related to one keyword or keyword phrase that you want to build SEO strength for. Example: if I wanted to build search engine relevance/strength for the term “Article Marketing,” I’d link up that term in my resource box to my website. This is an intermediate to advanced level strategy and should not be abused by over-doing it. Keep it simple.

What NOT to include in your RESOURCE BOX:

  • A listing of every website you own. There is no faster way to dilute your credibility than by posting a half dozen irrelevant URLs that have nothing to do with each other. Best to only post ONE URL that is related to the topic of your article.
  • A listing of every accomplishment you’ve achieved to date. No one cares. Keep your resource box brief and to the point. Yes, your resource box should be benefit oriented so that the reader finds value in reading it rather than your ego being justified.
  • Advertisements or pitches for products that are not relevant to the topic of your article.
  • Keep the size of your resource box so that it’s no larger than 15% of your total article size. Too often I see resource boxes that are 50% of the size of the total article and this is abusive.

Your Perfect Resource Box Conclusion:

The BODY of your article is where you “GIVE” and the RESOURCE BOX is where you get to “TAKE” for your article marketing gift of information. The resource box is the “currency of payment” you receive for giving away your article. Be sure to include your name, website address, your unique selling proposition as briefly as possible and a simple call to action.

How To Write An Article Review The Easy Way

Main Content No Comments »
Bum Marketing DominationImage by lawtonchiles via Flickr

One of the best ways to promote any product on the internet is to write an article review. When looking at how to write an article review, you need to research your chosen subject and bring together the main points for your review to take shape.

The first step is to search Google for information on the product you want to review. This is a straightforward step as you are only checking the first 10-15 results that Google throws up. Study each site and take the parts that you feel will add value to your review. Remember that you are looking for quality content that the reader wants to know about. Take a look at Google News too, as this is updated regularly and provides very good information.

Next, take a look at any affiliate sites that may be using Google Adwords on the first couple of pages of search results. These are great sources of information, especially if you are writing a review on a digital product. Generally you will reach the affiliate sales page and this normally gives good information on the benefits of the product. List these down and add them to your review.

If you are reviewing a physical product such as a digital camera or TV, search the brand name and check out the reviews or posts that customers have submitted. Amazon is excellent source of information, as many customers leave comments about the product they have bought. Even if you do not own the product, you can get half a dozen or so comments and rewrite them into a review and post it on your blog or submit your work to an article directory!

Another great method when looking at how to write an article review is to check out sites such as Technorati and Delicious. These sites are live and continually update with new information, which makes any content you can get valuable. Just add the product into the search field and scan through the results. I have written reviews based only on information from these sites alone.

How to write an article review is easy as the internet is overflowing with almost a never-ending supply of information. You certainly don’t need to own a product to review it. Indeed, I find it better not to have owned the product before I write a review.

Did you know that a good article review can drive quality targeted traffic to you website or landing page. SEO – Link Building for Beginners

Main Content No Comments »
A typical search engine results pageImage via Wikipedia

Search Engine Optimisation has two distinct area’s the first being On-page optimisation and the second, off-page optimisation. On-page optimisation is what you can actually do to your website that will affect your ranking on the search engines. This includes changing your title tags, H1 Tags etc. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) like anything else adheres to the 80/20 rule, whereby on-page optimisation accounts for 20% of search engine rankings.

The other 80% comes from link building, which is by far the hardest part when it comes to SEO. Link building is getting other sites to link back to your own website. Like everything else in the world, links have varying degrees of quality, you get really poor quality links which can actually harm your website or you can get excellent links which will help your rankings tremendously. Obviously, the best quality links are the hardest to obtain. For your information, the best kind of links to get, are links that come from Universities or Government websites. Search Engines love these links and if you do manage to get one your website will almost certainly help get your website on to the first page within a couple of months.

The worst types of links are backlinks that come from Porn Sites, Pharma Sites or Gambling Sites.

I will list the ways in which a person can obtain links for their website.

1) Buy Links – The better the link, the more expensive they are.
2) Ask For Links – Either via Phone or Email.
3) Link Exchanges – Swap Links with other webmasters.
4) Register with Directories – Register your site with a number of directories.
5) Write Articles – Submit your articles to article directories like Ezine.
6) Write Press Releases – Submit to sites like PRweb.
7) Use Viral marketing techniques – Use sites like pay per post (link baiting).

I would suggest doing all of the above when you first start trying to do SEO on your own site. A good mix of links is always good, try not to buy too many “cheap & cheerful” links as these will not do your site much good.
